Small Group Programs

  • Strength Training for Moms April 2025

    This small group (max 6 people) will meet for 1 hour 2 times a week for 4 weeks. Individuals will also receive 1 optional at-home workout. This strength training program is designed for people postpartum 6 weeks+ interested in regaining core strength and function, increasing lean muscle mass, and returning to movement that they love. We will meet each person where they are by providing modifications and challenges when appropriate.

    We will meet Monday and Wednesday from 5-6pm beginning March 31- April 23 for a total of 8 in- person training sessions.

    Cost: $159

    Location: Functional Phyzio- 2828 Pickett Rd. Suite 160A Durham, NC.

    The program is designed and led by Erinn Brooks, CSCS, Pre- & Postnatal Coach in collaboration with Dr. Norah Whitten, PT, DPT, owner of Functional Phyzio.

  • Strength Training 40+ April 2025

    This small group (max 8 people) will meet for 1 hour 2 times a week for 4 weeks. This strength training program is designed for beginner to advanced individuals interested in mitigating bone density loss, increasing lean muscle mass, improving balance, mobility and power development.

    We will meet Monday and Wednesday at 6:15-7:15pm beginning March 31-April 23 for a total of 8-person training sessions.

    Investment: $155

  • Intro to Strength Training

    This small group (max 6 people) will meet for 1 hour 2 times a week for 6 weeks. This strength training program is designed for beginners in resistance training or those who are getting back into a consistent routine. Sessions will emphasize form and technique while providing progressive overload at each person’s individual pace.

    If you want to get stronger, build balance and core strength, and become confident in any gym, this is the program for you.

  • Intermediate/Advanced Strength Training

    This small group (max 6 people) will meet for 1 hour 3 times a week for 6 weeks. This strength training program is designed for those who have been consistently training for several months and are interested in being challenged to their strength limits to develop max strength, power and athleticism.

Workout Design

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of strength training, workout and program design like: what happens to our muscles and our nervous system when we strength train, how often we should lift and which exercises to pick, how many reps/sets of each, and what order.

I believe that the more we know about the why, the more motivated we will be to stay consistent and the better equipped we will be to come up with safe and effective workouts on the fly.

Intro to Barbell

Can you lift more than you can hold in each hand? You may be ready to incorporate barbell training. While using a barbell and rack may be intimidating, it can be an amazing tool to increase strength and power.

In this workshop, you will learn how to safely use a barbell and rack, how to position your hands and body, how to add weight and adjust safety clamps, how to spot a friend, and how to safely fail a lift.

Leave this workshop, able to front squat, bench press, and deadlift with confidence.

Intro to Strength Training

In this workshop, you will practice proper form and technique of the 7 foundational movement patterns (squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, carry, rotation), emphasizing squat, hinge and the individualized needs of the group. You will learn proper set up, where and how to hold the weights, how to spot a friend, and how to safely fail a lift. You will learn how to brace and engage your core.
